I was walking outside my office (garage) with a client this morning and I looked up at the beautiful orange, yellow and reds leaves. The light from the morning sun was just right to aluminate all the magical colors. I looked at our client and said, “do you see what I see right now?” She paused and looked up and said yes, it’s magic. It was as if, God had painted us this beautiful picture that only we could see in this moment of wonder and imagination. We just stood their staring at this moment of perfect light and perfection. It was a gift to us both.

This moment was not lost, I’ve been thinking about it all day. What is also not lost on me is that if I was in my disease, I would not have even noticed. I would not have been even remotely aware of the magic that comes within the pause. When we are grounded in each moment, we are capable and aware that wonder is all around us. We as humans must pause and soak these moments in.

So today, I’ve found myself living in gratitude and slowing everything down a step to just soak it in. The fall colors are an epic and awesome gift to all of us around the country that receive this annual gift. Today I’m just grateful for recovery and for all the magic that resides throughout each day. Have you paused today and as a result, gained a new perspective?
