Kelsey Huberty, MA, LPC, LAC

Clinical director

Tell us a little about yourself:

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and a Licensed Addiction Counselor (LAC) in the state of Colorado. I have my Master's in Addiction Counseling from the Hazelden Graduate School and have taken additional coursework and training in mental health counseling. I have worked in a variety of roles in a variety of settings including ranging from counselor to Clinical Director at nationally known substance treatment facilities since 2012.I am passionate and firmly believe in the importance of gender-specific treatment, particularly for women. While in CA, I was able to help develop and launch a long-term aftercare program for women who struggle with addiction and trauma.  In my roles, I have helped to improve and develop programs and clinicians. I love working directly with clients helping them to overcome life's challenges and discover their inner wisdom and resources. My clinical approach is holistic, and I assess each client to get an idea of what approach will be most helpful for them. I truly love what I do and consider it a privilege to walk alongside my clients as they move through the difficulties they are facing in their lives. I have had my own experiences in life and consider myself to be a "wounded healer" who can provide you with great empathy and guidance for the struggles you are facing. I’ve also always had the ability to look at a problem from a holistic, systemic perspective. This, coupled with the nerdy part of me that likes compliance and rules, has helped me transition into the role of the Director of Operations.

What's your favorite part about what we do at Momenta?

My favorite part about what we do at Momenta is how small and tightly knit we are. For many people, establishing safe and trusting relationships is incredibly difficult because of their pasts. At Momenta we excel at relationship building. I love that many of our women are connected to us throughout their journeys whether through becoming staff or staying connected to our alumni community. I also love that we are situated in a stunningly beautiful part of Colorado and many of our clients get to see snow for the first time while they are here. When clients leave, we host a transition ceremony to honor the work that they have done and it’s so moving to know that most women re-connect or meet their best selves while with us.

What inspires you?

I firmly hold the belief that if someone has suffered and come out the other side that they have an obligation to help people not struggle in the same ways. To be a source of hope and inspiration to someone who may be lost in their own darkness. My daughter also inspires me. It’s been incredible to re-learn about and re-experience the world through her eyes.

What do you do when you're not working?

When I am not working, I am most always with my family. I have an incredible partner and we have the coolest daughter. She’s a toddler so generally, I am chasing her around. Our family also has a dog, Willow, and a cat, Cricket. We love getting outside, playing at the park, and taking advantage of the beautiful scenery. I may also have a weakness for some reality TV so I might be watching Vanderpump Rules.

What's something about you that not many people know?

I’m actually a pretty good cook and baker. I’m also conversationally fluent in Spanish.
